Why does current Baltimore Ravens football head coach Jim Harbaugh put his quarterbacks through baseball drills?
He knows what famed coach Bill Walsh understood about his best players… they develop “athletic instincts” no matter what sport they play. The best ones can perform well in multiple sports.
Have you see the video of baseball superstar Mike Trout dunking a basketball?
What can we learn from this example? Spend time with our kids, in all seasons, playing a variety of sports and experimenting with all kinds of cross-sport training drills. After all these top 5 MVP candidates played multiple sports in high school too.
Do you have any cross sport training drills you enjoy?
Have you tried the basketball dunk drill to help kids understand how to use ground forces in their pitching and hitting?
Or maybe the hockey puck drill 🙂
